BASIS_OF_SIZE

On the basis of the size:-

                       Some computers are divided in the size.Which is more expensive,powerful and use in the separated places.

Ex:-Super Computer,Mainframe Computer,Mini Computer, Micro Computer etc.

*Super computer:- Super Computer is the most powerful digital computer.It can process huge amount of data at short time.This type of computer is specially designed for scientific research,weather forecasting and other special purpose.

    Super computer is the largest,fastest and the most expensive computer Some super computers are CYBER 205,CRAY T90,ETA10 etc.

*Mainframe Computer:-Mainframe computer is the largest type of computer for common use.They have very large storage capacity and have a very high processing speed.They support large number of terminals.More than one hundred persons can work at the same time with one mainframe.The number of terminals can be much more depending of the capacity or power of mainframes. A terminal is a monitor,keyboard,mouse or printer which is connected to mainframe.

  Mainframe computers are used in large organization like insurance companies and banks where many people need frequent access to same data,which is organized into one or more database .They are also used in government organizations,large business and research organization,airlines,population census etc.

  In Nepal,population census of 2028 B.S. was done with mainframe IBM 1404 model and the population census of 2038 B.S. was done with ICL 2950/10 model.

  Mainframe computer can be used in LAN(Local Area Network),MAN(Meropolitan Area Network) and WAN(Wide Area Network)systems.
